"A Thousand Miles" - Sabrina Carpenter
This is going to be a long, struggling essay. I've started this twice
and each time the words collapsed to rubbish.
Why?
Because something truly changed about the time Sabrina did the
collaboration "Beat It".
"Beat It" blew me away but I knew Sabrina was talented so it fit
with everything. Right on the heels of that, or about the same
time, Sabrina did "Only Hope" and I was stunned.
Before I could get settled, she blew me away again -- completely
and utterly blew me away -- with "Black Velvet". I'm still not entirely
recovered from that but with some rest and a few extra vitamins
and I should be fine.
Now comes "A Thousand Miles" and after playing it a thousand
times I have to conclude it is better than the original. Sabrina
even manages to do the vocal nuances BETTER than the original
artist.
There should be some announcement when things like this happen.
You know, like a big bell being rung or skywriting ... and the
message would be "Sabrina Carpenter Has Arrived."
For she surely has. Not with just one but ... two, three and four
new videos that announce, in glorious sound, that Sabrina
Carpenter has come into her own. She has found her stage and
she has found her sound.
Some weeks ago Sabrina came to my notice and I thought then
she was very talented with what seemed to me great potential.
Little did I know how talented or how much potential. But Sabrina
is also one of the most versatile vocalists I've seen in a long while.
She can do just about any song and do it well.
(to be continued ...)
