Ivan, thanks for posting that clip. I was unable to view it until just recently.
Sabrina is so confident and upbeat in this interview. Not that she is anything but on any interview ... but doesn't it strike you as different than from previous interviews? It's like Sabrina has grown as a performer and a person in such a short time.
Maybe it's me, I don't know, but this is a great interview. If you can do interviews like this consistently, shows are going to love having you on, Sabrina.
I was amazed the first time I saw and heard her ... and I continue to be amazed. But I also enjoy listening to her sing and watching her perform. Win-win, any way you look at it.
You have arrived, Sabrina.

Arnold, I agreed with you on Sabrina's interview. She has gained maturity through all her experience and presents herself more as a young teen than a little girl. She has always been poised, personable and articulate in her interviews and this latest one was her best. She was radiant effervescent and that, as best as I can gather, was only hours after her China experience and long flight back. That is a mark of a professional. It seems to me anyone who saw that would be interested to know more about her and conduct their own interview with her.
I also agree with you on Law and Order. I have commended Sabrina often for her willingness to sing about "gritty" topics and she has donated to causes as well. She is exceptionally socially aware and truly cares about problems in relationships and society.
When it hit me that she was going to be on SVU I was kind of shocked at first but then immediately concluded that these victims need a very good actress to portray their plight. One not afraid of the 'grittiness" of life. Sabrina could do that and she did.
When I was a lot younger I spent 15 years working with at-risk teens and young adult survivors, on a suicide hotline in Chicago and as a drug and alcohol counselor. And I worked in a rehab setting as a trainer and in suicide intervention then worked for the police department training and consulting in suicide intervention among other tasks.
In short I have worked in the belly of society, I know what "gritty is'. I have had several Larissa and Danny types as clients. I worked intensely with them, knew them well and cared deeply for them. I know that had any of these people seen Sabrina's performance they would have been very pleased with the care and professionalism with which she represented them. To take on such a role not only provided a convincing spokesperson for these people but proved Sabrina is ready for serious acting.
I believe Sabrina has arrived and all her singing and acting from this point will be polishing and honing and from what I gather dance can be included in that too.

Gary,
Your words are thoughtful and thought-provoking and I can only agree with you. I cannot claim to have experienced all that you have in regard to this gritty topic, but problems like this should not be covered over as though they do not exist. In that respect, it takes someone with the skills and awareness, someone like Sabrina, to bring such horrible things to the attention of the public in hopes that some sort of remedy can be found. I try to keep an optimistic view of things and hope that the good in humans will prevail over this evil humans also do.
I should point out, however, that some claim part of the problem is because youngsters, especially young girls, are now made up and dressed up to look much older than they are.
I don't think much of that as an explanation -- how does one explain abuse when there is no such thing present? -- but sometimes wonder if maybe they have a point.
You can easily see where such thinking leads and I think that is a bad road to follow. It winds up hurting young performers like Sabrina while probably not helping the overall problem at all.
That said, my advice to any performer with regard to "causes" is this: proceed with extreme caution.
